A major yet discreet figure in French electronic music for nearly fifteen years, Cédric Steffens aka Canblaster is an artist who is universally respected and admired by his producer and DJ peers, and often even beyond the club circuit and niche labels. He has worked with Lido, Theophilus London and even Kanye West, and remixed Charli XCX and A.G. Cook. After years of experimentation and deepening (following the end of the Club Cheval quartet), surrounded by his modular synthesizers, 2023 marked his big comeback.
A few weeks after the release of GENESIS, a spectacularly effective 10-track mixtape, and the presentation of a remarkable live show at the Transmusicales in Rennes, Canblaster announces the release of the first chapter of his album LIBEROSIS.
An album in three parts, LIBEROSIS is a work that offers several levels of reading and sensitivity. The provisional culmination of Canblaster's quest, it is a meditative epic of 18 tracks mixed by Steve Dub - famous for having been the sound engineer for his role models, the Chemical Brothers. A record that plays with the codes of pop (contemporary or vintage) as well as those of club music, again often from England, drum'n'bass, 2-step or dubstep. A world driven by both human desire and technical genius.
LIBEROSIS ACT I, the first opus in this global oeuvre, will be released on 19 January 2024.
